Dumb Luck

I guess I can give some long explanation about how I came to make these photos.  OK, here’s the long explanation.

I ride the green line up and down Boston every single day.  I hate the green line.  It makes me want to tear my hair out.  I hate that it is late all the time.  I hate that it stops every 20 feet.  I hate that it is packed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  I hate everything about it.

However, there is one good thing about it.  When it finally travels underground, it goes through these unbelievably beautiful tunnels that are illuminated by the lights from the train and most of the time, no lights.  They remind me of ancient hallways.  I mean the green line is 100 years old and those tunnels are that old as well.  But it makes for a beautiful effect when one is traveling through them.

Today I was riding the green line as I usually do and I was sitting in the front of the train with an unobstructed view of the tunnels.  Usually the train is so full, I can’t see anything.  Today I lucked out.  Pure dumb luck got me these:
