What got us here and what will get us out
Venice Chaos
What are you looking at?
Excuse me Mr. Draper, Conrad Hilton on line two for you
New York City, I have a query
Do you tell the weirdos to stay indoors during the week, just so they can come out during the weekends?
Aside from that, check out who I saw in the Times Square subway station:
The little red paper in her hand? Love from her heart to the riders of the New York City subway. And they need it because that darn 1 train still only sorta runs on the weekends and why? Come on. Construction is done already on South Ferry. Are you people crazy?
OK, calming down. Yes, the subway needs angels. Because usually its gives me an aneurysm.
Just a typical Sunday afternoon for me…..
Nope, no one is getting water boarded or tortured or anything, but they are getting a haircut at the annual WFMU record fair. For those of you who are not familiar with WFMU, they are a radio station broadcasting from New Jersey which advertise themselves with the following slogan:
Where Downtown Art Skronk and Appalachian Meat Murder Ballads Acquire Brill Building Panache.
I don’t know what this means either, but it sounds pretty fun. Any who, they have an annual record fair that features performance art haircuts of the type featured above and below:
And of course there are the attendees, who never fail to be at least somewhat interesting:
Not to mention the kinds of things they sell at this place:
Or the gentle ways in which they try to sell it:
But the best part of this fest are the various performers they get. They run the gamut from very, very weird to very, very, very, very weird. Let’s take this for example:
You see the red behind him? Take a moment to think over what you think it might be. Give up?
Its. someone’s. colon. From a Colonoscopy. I don’t know whether to laugh, cry or throw up, but apparently these people thought this was a great background to perform in front of and who am I to judge?
At this same place, there was this weird little pastiche of old movies that included Julie Andrews singing in the Austrian hills while napalm went off in the background. I did not photograph that. I was too busy trying really hard not to laugh at it.
