I know, I could have some kind of a dissertation on Italian architecture or how I feel this is influenced by Art Deco, but I prefer to sound like a guest on Ricki Lake.

The arch Arch entry

In Italy I saw many things I never thought I would see in my life. I saw an underwear store that also sold sushi. I also never so many lingerie stores in my life as I did in Bologna. I also went to a bookstore that sold pasta and wine.

Bologna was also a place where I saw more arches than I had ever seen in my entire life. Let me give you a sampling:

They aren’t arches like the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. They are just these little passageways between the buildings. I find them more useful. The French are still delusional about their military power. No problems like that with the Italians. OK, that’s enough intra-Europe s%&t talking. Back to the arches. They were great because they protected you from the severest of weather, cold, rain or sunshine and each was different and each was really lovely. Observe:

I have been thinking about this entry since my second day in Italy. I’ve been back from there for two weeks. Boy, am I ever a champion of procrastination.
