Yes, the blog has recently been featuring my leisurely island vacation, with its views of super heroes, regular heroes, octopuses, hurricanes and steak eaters.

But we must take a short break from our programming to tackle a very important issue. What is it? The two wars the administration is involved in? The looming health care crisis? The fact that Melrose Place is coming back to television. No, no, my blog readers, this trumps all of those and then some.

We must discuss why the people of Boston cannot go out dressed in things like shoes, pants and shirts, but instead they must go out dressed like this:

Take a moment. Look at her. Ready yet? NO? I’ll give you another second. Ready now? OK. She is wearing an evening dress made of boxing gloves. My first reaction to this was to ask her if she was actually someone’s rejected audition video from Project Runway. My second reaction was to see if she was in some way related to the Boston Marathon red cup wearing buskers.

It turns out that all my kidding is for naught and that is actually trying to get a worthy message out there:

She also mentioned something about going to meet Senator Kennedy, who if memory serves hasn’t really needed any health care for about a week, given that he’s dead and all.

Of course there is a story about how I got the photo. I completed my usual Cambridge tour of duty (walk to Tealuxe, use internet, go to Coop, look at People Magazine and go home) and was about to leave for home when I spotted the boxing glove couture. I wasn’t sure if I should take a photo or if she’d even let me. And then in a move that was stalkerish, just slightly, I followed her onto the T because I thought there would be a better photo on the train. More atmosphere. Every few stops she would change her placard. Here are the last two:

This was just too funny. As an aside, while I was standing there taking these photos, I felt like a real photojournalist and it was a good feeling. I hope this woman gets her message out and if I helped, so much the better.
