Attention Metropolitan Museum of Art, here is your new logo….

Or perhaps one or two of these:

These are from the recently redone American Wing. I have to say, it was a lovely place to spend a Sunday afternoon. It has that classicism I always look to inject into my photos as well.

More? Here you go:

I also got a nice detail shot of the new American Wing:

Not to mention, this is a museum filled with some of the world’s finest art. Which for the most part, you can’t photograph, but I got a few shots in, neverthless:

I like to call this last one “bright eyes” or “botox man”:

Or just cute. I don’t know.

Borderline

UH. Oh, this I can tell is going to be an adventure. I had a hard time already with the processing on this one and this is what I can up with. This was a snap and run away kind of a photo, so I didn’t get a second one. Also, expect to see more examples of this one. A lot.

Squaring the rectangle

I guess we are embarking on a new experiment for me, namely this square format. No, I did not hit the lotto and buy a Hasselblad or a Rollei or some other such fancy camera. I just took this with my trusty XSI and then sorta squared them in post-production.

When I started really getting into photography, I looked at tons of photos and wondered why do I respond to this, why do I think this is a good photo and many of them were square. Or sorta square as these are. I think in some photos, like the one above and the one I am about to post, the square proportion works. Evaluate:

I hate the subway

My hatred of the New York City subway is well known. It is dirty, it never takes me where I need to go, it features the bastard 6 train, which my friend and I have nicknamed the 666 Satan train. I always get stared at on the subway, it always sucked, random people are always talking to me, even if I have my usual “get away from me” look on my face, I am reading a magazine and am wearing my iPod.

However, somehow, the fact that the subway provides ample opportunity to take photos redeems it, sorta. Behold:

I saw the lines of the lights immediately and was drawn to that. Then I tried to get some people into it, so it had the human factor in it and then I worked my magic on it later. I like this shot a lot right now.

Any opinions my loyal audience?

Blue

OK, here I am about to reveal a big secret. Ready, ready…. OK. I work on these pictures, a lot and sometimes I don’t have any ideas, or wherever the picture is going is somewhere I don’t like, so what do I do?

I go to blue. Blue never fails. Blue never fails to make the photo look great when I am out of ideas, so when you see a photo that is really blue, know it is because I am out of ideas. Or not, or that is just where I wanted to go, but blue is very good to me.
