Lincoln, man of candy

This was in a candy store in Maine. I shot it in the style of National Geographic, in which I once saw a lovely, understated photo story about Maine. I used that as a bit of inspiration for this one and the others from Maine.

By the way, this is a Maine candy store that has been around over a hundred years. The woman who owned the store told me that her father really liked Lincoln, hence all the photos.

Blog Classic: Krakow, Summer 1999

I guess there are two explanations for this photo, a long and a short one. The long one is about how I felt when I was taking it, which I admit wasn’t terribly good, but wait a second. I do not reveal things up in here about me, so that is all you are getting.

Film-o-rifically speaking, I shot this with the trusty old Canon AE-1, best friend and constant companion on some 400 speed Kodak film. I absolutely believe photography requires no skill, but there are moments when I decidedly think that might not be true, and I begrudgingly admit this was one of those moments. The camera was set to a one thousand of a second and probably an aperture in the 4-5.6 range. Strange how I remember this stuff and not for example what I wore yesterday.

Anyway, enjoy the cloth hall and ever present pigeons.
