Those Urban Beaches

Growing up urban beaches held no interest for me.  I went to Coney Island once as a kid, once as an adult.  The time as an adult was cut short abruptly when a hurricane blew through.  Not a rainstorm.  An actual honest to god hurricane.

Urban beaches have coarse sand and shells and cold water.  They are overcrowded and they kind of smell bad.

When I went to Revere Beach, my point of view changed.  Yeah, it isn’t a Caribbean beach with silky sand and cold water.  But it has charm.  Tons of it.  You get those gritty city photos of people enjoying summer, city style.  Different, but still pretty good:

Dogs Put A Smile On Our Face

I was watching Pawn Stars recently and Big Hoss left his bulldog with Chumlee.  Chumlee brought the dog into the office and Skiba, the bulldog leaves the kinds of presents nobody wants around but is good company in general.

Then Chumlee says “Skiba is pretty good company and doesn’t bark at you, like Rick and the Old Man.”  Dogs put people in a good mood.  They just do.

Like this kid and this dog.  Don’t they look happy together?:

Boston Fashion File XXX

This is the 30th Boston Fashion File.  Amazing.

Let’s get right down to business.  Boston Fashion File always reports live from the front lines of Boston fashion.  Boston isn’t a fashion capital of the world, but really should be.  People around here dress however they want.  And the results are usually great.

Today’s Boston Fashion File focuses on typical outfits.  I’m not saying ethnic outfits, but there will be some.  I’m talking about special outfits people wear to special occasions.

First off, a goodbye to a friend who filled our lives with joy and is now leaving us.  He decided to say goodbye to us by wearing a magnificent outfit:

This magnificent outfit is from Mali and it made everyone smile.

Totally, totally, totally coincidentally I stumbled upon this scene a day later:

These outfits were also wonderful.  Colorful and they made me smile.  We also had a gent join the fashion sweepstakes:

All of these wonderfully dressed people were in support of our bride.  Who bore her own look, which was traditional:

Then I walked over to Boston Common.  No, really.  Seriously.  This is an afternoon in Boston.

I walked over to Boston Common and say a ritual of another kind.  Feel free to write me and tell me what this is.  I think it is some kind of hare krishna ceremony:

No, that deity is just made of plastic.  But their outfits merited mention here.

And finally, a guy who walked by the proceedings:

I wonder where he was going.  But he looked good, so he too made the fashion file.

Congratulations to all that got featured!
