Marathon Marathon Marathon

Nothing but marathon from now on.  Yes, yesterday was my favorite day of the year, Marathon Monday, when Kenyans turn their legs into lightening bolts and traverse long distances via car in unbelievable speeds and when regular Joes put on their best tuxedos, Genie outfits and cups (!) to go 26.2 miles.

The Kenyans awe me with their speed.  The regular folks just amaze me with the fact that they choose to run this thing, in all stages of dress, looking totally exhausted by the end, but they have an advantage.  They did it and I haven’t (yet).  I admit, I envy them their shiny marathon blankets and their medals.

Yesterday made me think — I want to do this.  I want to run the marathon, but then I thought “I really like taking photos of it.”  So hence let’s have some photos:

Just kidding.  He was not part of the marathon.  He was kind of a sideshow, but he made it fun too.  Here is real fun from the marathon:

OK, well, there is just a smattering of the tons of people who run the Boston Marathon.  More to come….

Boston Red Cups

This will be a longer entry.  Today was the day of the marathon and I do love the marathon, and there were so many photos and everything.  There will be an infinite number of entries related to the marathon, but I wanted to start with two familiar faces, no I guess cups that I saw at the marathon:

These boys made me love the marathon.  These boys made me want to live in Boston.  And I saw these boys at the marathon today and I was super excited.  Sure, it is a guy running the marathon practically naked, save for a giant red cup, but it was also seeing these people again and being happy.

I thought for sure they would recognize me, being that I have talked about them for the last two years and promoted them all the time, but no, they just ran passed.  And guess the encounter was what it was meant to be.  Me, seeing my lovely Red Cups again:

And just when I thought there would be no photos today…

Let me list the things that went through my mind when I saw this:

1. Why would you do this to your car?
2. Porcupines and Saabs
3. Is that a Yoda PEZ dispenser?
4. Is that Spider Man?
5. Why would you do this to you car?

OK, another view:

Yeah, it was a pretty new Saab.  Covered in action figures.  So Boston, so Cambridge, so goofy, so great.

More.  Well, yeah:
