Nature

As a kid, my parents would take me on these walks around this nature preserve near our house.  Basically a big forest.  Admittedly I never enjoyed this.  I never understood why we had to do this.  There was nothing to look at.

Prior to that, my view of nature was the following: Central Park.  That was it.  That was nature.  As a kid going to elementary school in Manhattan, that’s where they took us to see “nature.”  Not to knock Central Park because it is very beautiful, but it isn’t wild and unspoiled.

Well, neither is Spectacle Island and George’s Island, where I now love to visit but there is something just wonderful about being out in the nature.  Something that makes you feel very good about your surroundings.

I’ve finally learned to love nature:

Water Stories

Why am I so attracted to the water?  All my life I’ve felt very comfortable in the water and always tended toward it.  With the exception of college, I’ve always lived in a place near water, or on the water.

Water, river or sea, or sound adds something to a place.  Places near the water always have an interesting history and the water is always connected to it.  Were Boston not a port, it would have played such an important role in America’s history.

My last few days have been spent on and near the water.  Can’t say its made me unhappy:

Florence Is Splitting Into Two

Well, not exactly.  What the real story was is that I was laying down next to the fountain at the Boston Public Library and I used my panoramic setting.  I have to say that among all the great settings on that camera, panorama, well, I’m underwhelmed.

But I figured out a way not to be underwhelmed by it.  I can use the image split as a trick in the photo to make it look more weird, always a win for me.

Let’s see the results:
