Blog Classic, Washington DC, Spring 2001

This was kind of interesting. If you are a fan of the blog, and I know there are 8-10 people who visit this place regularly, you will know I shot a series of photos of cherry blossoms in 2001. Color infrared film, the works.

Now this photo is from the day I shot the cherry blossoms. This young man was sitting behind me on the train to the National Mall to photograph the cherry blossoms. Him and his friend started asking me if I was a photographer and since I had this behemoth camera around my neck at the time, hey, well, I guess so. I actually prefer person who takes pictures. Photographer to me is Henri Cartier Bresson or Helmut Newton.

Anyway, he asked me to take his photo. Yes, there is blurriness, but mind you at the time I had 100 speed color slide film in my camera. That’s not the diva of the film world, but let’s say near there. No flash on this one, because I didn’t believe in at the time. And there you have this image. I love the look on the guy’s face.

That was a lot of writing for one photo. I’ll never do it again.
