Over the past few years, I’ve started listening to more and more Grateful Dead songs. I realize this is an unusual development, given the fact that the lead singer has been dead for 20 years and I pretty much missed any chance to see them live, but there you have it.
I guess it can also be traced to the fact that I have seen “The Other Dream Team” about the 1992 Lithuanian basketball team that got sponsorship from the Grateful Dead. In the movie, they play a ton of their music, which sets the kind of countercultural mood for the movie.
I was kind of thinking about that when I went to the Harvard Natural History museum yesterday. I guess we need to keep trucking and not fade away, like these people:
