I always imagine aliens emerging from these things. I don’t know why.

OK, no one ever wrote a song about a tricycle or a yellow sign in Spanish Harlem, but I got these two on a small detour in that particularly colorful neighborhood:

Yup, this is an actual red rose I photographed in Spanish Harlem. Life is just like that sometimes, I guess.

And I am happy to report, nearly no editing on this one. I am very happy about that in fact.

Ah, mermaids. Object of great debate. This is from Warsaw in 2001, taken on my beloved Extra Color Kodak Slide film, some of the best stuff out there.

Why the debate over the mermaids? Well, Warsaw has the mermaid as their symbol, as does Copenhagen. The Warsaw mermaid looks like she is going to cut someone. The Copenhagen mermaid is so peaceful looking. I had a debate once about the differences with a friend who is a Dane. He prefers the Copenhagen one, of course, but I think it is more important that the mermaid can cut someone.
