Picture it — Somewhere over the Atlantic, on an airplane to London, 1994

I looked out the window and I saw this incredible moon. It was as though you could actually reach out and touch it. At the time, I had an interest in photography, but not the skills to reproduce what I saw in front of my eyes. As I stared out the window, a song by the band Pantera called Cemetery Gates played in my ears, probably from my Walkman (I am dating myself). It has a great instrumental middle part. Of course music can’t be described in words, so I would suggest getting the song from iTunes.

Since seeing that moon out of that window I have wanted to reproduce what I saw and how it sort of felt in terms of a photograph, hence the many sweeping city skyline shots. These are the latest in what is already an immense collection of these. OK, stop the chattering, the photos, the photos.

Yes, as you wish:

The romance of the trains

I have long had this dream to do a huge photo series just on trains. I’ve always imagined this old style b&w, with all kinds of just dreamy sort of scenes, kind of like this one. I would love to take this as far as it could go, but for now, you get these:

Me and the powerplants

You all who visit this place might think I am not that discriminating about what I photograph and well, that might be true. But I have let’s say a top list of things I love to photograph. I’d say number 5 on that list are power plants. I will leave it up to you about what the other nine things are. I will say that when I really started to get into photography, I lived in a place where the most prominent feature was a power plant and I photographed, say it with me, endlessly.

OK, stop talking, the photos. OK, the photos:

And this third one, yeah, I just don’t know. If you all want to offer comment on it, fine by me:
