Yeah, I know, it isn’t my usual photographic elegance, but I just liked this one:
And hence I posted it.
Occasionally, I leisurely pass through the archives and find things that have slipped thorough the cracks. I don’t have time to look at every single photo and sometimes, there are just too many of them that I can’t get through all of them, so I just forget.
Well, the computer lets me know when it is time to do some house cleaning and that is when I find these hidden gems. For example, I went to Florida. Oh Florida, sweet Florida. How I could photograph you everyday, forever and ever and ever. I defy anyone not to love these:
I made the background extra lush because I thought it was called for.
This one I took and I thought “god, there are so many things I could do with this one” but then I never did anything with it. Until now:
This is some kind of adventurer. I don’t even know who, but as it was Florida, I wanted the faded family vacation feel to the photos.
Next up, another old favorite. Ripping off Walker Evans, were he to shoot in color:
That is from Everglades City that has appeared up here before, but I liked this one with the mixed up colors.
Final two are just so random. The face is from Sweden, the factory type thing from Baltimore:
Good finds in the archives, eh?
OK, a little bloviating here. Usually I just post and don’t write, but here there will be some explaining. Yes, I realize I already took the photo above once, but I do photos again and again and I wanted to get it perfect, so I took it again. These other ones, well here is the explanation. If you have ever wondered where my ideas come from for my photos, they come from visions I get of memories or dreams. I know, that’s a little vague, but here is the example and then I will tell what the inspiration was:
I made this one and I thought “those were the lights the morning I left for college” or something like that. Or this one:
“and that’s the room we used to have parties in.” Draw what you will from this one:
It has that morning after a party feel to it too. Anyway, I really like these.
