The Crop

First the photo, then some chattering:

Yeah, it seems like a rather conventional shot, just a lady* holding an umbrella, but I think the crop is all important here.  I did what I call a 3/4 crop on this one.  What I mean by that is that the informational parts of the photograph are in the 3rd and 4th quadrant of the photo, instead of it being a 1/2 crop where the information is just in the first two quadrants.

(I add the asterisk because I took this one at a gay pride parade and I am not sure if this is a lady.)

Italianate

When I went to Italy, I kept wondering why the inside of every public building looked like your average American public library.  Today I went to the Boston Public Library and thought it looked like Italy.

Somewhere a Real Housewife of New Jersey weeps

Yesterday I watched a Hulu clip of a house tour given by one of those New Jersey housewives. I won’t say which one because I’m a bit afraid that she might be “connected” so I can make editorial comments about her house. It looked like a steroidal Olive Garden. In other words, tacky, but in a bad way.

Looking at this photo, I thought that housewife must be weeping because it not attached to her house:
