I know there are Honkfests in other cities, but I dare say that really the one in Cambridge is the best. You have all of these people walking around in these homemade costumes with their political statements, playing all kinds of great music in marching bands. For some people, that might seem a bit boring, but for me, it is really the best.

Did I Succeed?
Now the “editorial direction” of this blog has become more photojournalistic. Well, to be more clear, I’ve just been photographing more photojournalistic type of stuff. I did used to be a journalist, so I guess that is kind of natural.
When I started this blog and when I went back to being kind of art photographer, I was constantly trying to reproduce artistic images I had seen in different places. Pop art images stuck particularly in my mind because I tend to really enjoy those. This one has been in my mind forever:

Ed Ruscha. A classic. Well, I tried to reproduce that one:

Was I successful in reproducing that painting? Well, not the same subject matter obviously, but I think the two pictures are similar. I think. Anyone want to sound off??
The Museum Where The Art Is Very Bad
I’ve long been fascinated by the Museum of Bad Art. The pieces are truly, truly, truly bad, but they are also kind of kitschy and fun at the same time.
Like this one that seems to have been inspired by (or drawn by) Beavis and Butthead:
And this one, which seems to be some kind of medical model, but then no, actually it doesn’t and OMG is that a damn phone???
Not exactly thoughts one has when visiting the Fine Arts Museum. Here it is, whatever you call this:
And a scary preacher?? I guess???
Waterfalls
Waterfall, nothing can harm me at all,
My worries seem so very small
With my waterfall.
I can see my rainbow calling me
Through the misty breeze
Of my waterfall.
Some people say day-dreaming’s
For all the, huh, lazy minded fools
With nothing else to do.
So let them laugh, laugh at me,
So just as long as I have you
To see me through,
I have nothing to lose ‘long as I have you.
Waterfall, don’t ever change your ways.
Fall with me for a million days,
Oh, my waterfall.
Nope, I didn’t write that. Jimi Hendrix can take credit for it. I didn’t even know the proper name of the song until I wanted to listen to it again.
Lately I’ve been listening to music on the way to work in the morning. I go through these phases when I need to do that and then I get tired of it. Sometimes the music matches my mood and other times it matches my mood and the mood of Downtown Crossing in the morning. I have frequently written about the magic of Downtown Crossing in the morning. I mean no one would have ever thought those words would be spoken together, but there you have it.
So today I stepped out of the train on Park Street and I saw people walking down Winter Street, backlit and the Jimi Hendrix song was playing in my headphones. Unfortunately, it was also 8:45, so I had to rush to get my coffee and then snapping and cracking at work.
I did go out later and get some shots of the amazing light on Downtown Crossing. With Jimi Hendrix playing in my mind the whole time:
Delivering My Weekly Quota Of Weird Photos
I Guess Its Cinema Night Here At Wrongsideofthecamera
Well, usually its Kimmy Schmidt night. Or some kind of sad documentary about horrible things happening to people.
But as far as photography posting, I guess I’ve got two sort of film like entries going on. I mean they are stills obviously because they are photos but they could be some kind of film stills, if you strain really hard:
