Note to self, standing on concrete barriers in Bryant Park, bad idea

Bryant Park was pretty much emptied out when I went over and took these:

And I did it while standing on a concrete barrier. I like to take my photos from higher up. It gives them a straight up and down feel that I think looks better. After much tinkering, I couldn’t make that happen in this one, but believe me, not for lack of trying.

Good that I snapped these as fast as I did because I have a record of achievement in the falling down category that is really exceptional. Oh and some lanyard wearing official type looking person came over and told me to get down.

Major league artistic…

I saw these chairs and the light and just freaked out. Wow, I thought to myself, what an arrangement of light and they were placed just perfectly. Of course this is also why people stare at me a lot thinking — what is she doing? What could she possibly be photographing? But the results can be pretty cool:

Strong

So, here we have your basic construction underpass that is everywhere in New York. There was something about this shot that gave a feeling of infinity. I don’t know if it the infinity of life, possibilities or something else. Well, also I liked the photograph itself and the way it sort blocked it self, as in the way it set up. Dead center is deadly they always say in photography, but here we have a case when it is not. Anyway, tinker I must, tinker I did:

Don’t know if the tinkering improved it…

Papa, papa papa razzi

You, my humble blog readers, must understand that lives in my mind many a photography project and ambition. So many I could not even count here, but needless to say, they are never ending, one replacing another when the first one is conquered.

The latest? Artistic paparazzo. Let me explain. Paparazzi is Britney buying cheetos, I get it, but I think in the right hands those photos could become something more, art if you will. Captured portrait art, if you will.

OK, stop the musings and get to photos. As you wish:

Did I achieve it here? Really I am not sure. How about here?:

Not sure yet? Here?:

Well, OK, we aren’t there yet and this last one, I threw in for a reason I shall explain momentarily:

OK, I have probably seen and/or taken thousands upon thousands of these types of pictures over the years. What always amazed me about them was that people always stood the same and they always lacked context or a sense of place, never mind being banal and artless. Yes, I took this picture, but I thought in the right hands, it could be elevated. Well, not sure yet, but the journey continues.

The Rocket

Now needless to say, I am obsessed with this thing, being that I photograph it, oh, constantly. But here, I’d say it is looking very rocket like, wouldn’t you say? It looks like the Grand Central man (don’t know what he is actually called) is sort of commanding the building to rise. Or, I should not write these journal entries before I have breakfast, because I am totally just running on about nothing.

Ok, another? Another then:
