Um, I looked at a lot of Edward Weston books when I got interested in photography

Hence we get a lot of these:

People actually ask me how I got into photography and assume I went to school for it.  Actually I am completely self taught and the lone photography course I took was called History of Photography.  It was obviously a chronology of photography with a heavy focus on Weston.  Weston photographed the sun drenched landscapes of Mexico.  I photograph the less sun drenched urban jungle of the Upper East side.  Otherwise, we are exactly the same.

Being there

Don’t you feel like you are right there?:

My original title for the post was going to be “the entry to hell” but I think my hatred for the New York City subway is kind of immense and more importantly, well documented on this little blog up here.

A series, a triptych, or a quad tych or a…

Penta-tych?  That word doesn’t even exist.  I made it up, following in the great tradition of every single American politician.

First let me explain.  Since it is cold as s$*% outside right now, these are from Florida, obviously.  The only beach around here is covered in snow right now and requires me to go outside, something that I am categorically opposed to unless the most dire circumstances are present.

UH.  Anyway, here is the penta-tych.  Each of the subjects in the photos, birds to be exact, are done in a different photographic style or to highlight a different photographic developing method.  Some are more solarized, others have more pronounced shadows, some less.  That is on purpose because I wanted to look at a variety of things with respect to developing styles.

So, without further chatter, the photos, in no particular order:

When in doubt, repeat yourself

Zero points for originality, as far as I am concerned, but I had this alternate shot to the one below floating around and here it is in all of its gotham-y glory.

Never mind the shadows and everything, but I love the foggy light in the photo.  That is what really makes it for me.
