Well, just more people I’ve met along my travels.
First up, the people who come into our lives for a little while and make our lives just a little brighter:
And the joke tellers. Even if they are bad jokes. Panda-mon-ium, huh? Nopunintended:
As I mentioned, at last year’s diving competition, I say a pony tailed adonis by the name of Orlando Duque. I was standing at a not so great angle to get all the action, so he was really the only one I noticed.
This year, I got to see the full show. The competition was full of strong divers. Who am I to critique them on their diving style? They are all amazing athletes.
But Orlando Duque is just so darn elegant in his dives. He has incredibly clean lines. Yeah, that’s it. Duque soliloquy complete.
Yeah, that is the title of this entry.
Don Draper, forget your sad sob story and your philandering. Roger, you are great, but there is no way you’ll ever come close to these these gents. Harry Crane, wimp. Maybe Henry Francis might actually consider doing this, but probably not likely.
These are the real Mad Men. Intrepid fliers. Men of the skies.
I’m talking about the annual Institute of Contemporary Art diving contest, held yesterday, which featured flipping, twisting, flipping, twisting and Greg Louganis. That’s a guy who one four gold medals and expressed complete and total fear at the prospect of plunging from the heights that our intrepid Mad Men regularly descend from.
Last year I was standing underneath the action. This year I got a much better spot, to the side of the action in the Splash Zone. Last year I couldn’t even really see the competitors. I noticed a pony tailed gent called Orlando Duque. This year I got a better view of the gladiators of the sky.
A few shots of them preparing for competition time:
And what seems like a ton of diving shots of flips, twists and drama:
As Billy Bob Thornton said in one of the best movies ever, Primary Colors, “a real pro knows how to say goodbye.” Well, as much as I love that line, I’d like to add a new line.
A real pro also knows how to make an entry.
Today during the “Opening Ceremony” of the Goofball Olympics, steam (or smoke) powered sky divers entered. Make your entrance sky divers, make your entrance:
And don’t forget to stick the landing:
